Mall Cleaning Stations
Marousi, Athens
1/3
False Perspective
Thematic Archaelogical Museum of Piraeus
Description
The Cleaning Stations at the shopping center The Mall Athens, are exposed at the main recreational level while containing the basic equipment for the cleaning services: a professional mop, trash, drop point for eating trays, as well as storage space for basic cleaning products. They are used mainly by the employees of The Mall, but can also be used by the visitors. The idea for the object’s design is the cleaning station to stand in space as a sculpture or a game. The realized design alludes to Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre’s storage cylinder and is a metal -0.8m diameter and 1.5 m height cylinder. It is divided vertically into 3 zones, has 3 recycling bins and all its parts besides the framework are detachable and movable.
