Agia Marina, Chania, Crete
3 Summer Houses
The new 4-star resort is an extension of an existing hotel between the municipalities of Agia Marina and Platanias, Chania. The new buildings provide the best possible orientation and ventilation for the rooms and maximum sunlight exposure for the communal pool area. The arrangement of the buildings in zones ensures the visibility of the mountain hinterland, the old settlement of Ano Platanias and the sea where possible. A central indoor patio features a private pool for the suites. The complex is organized with a double façade system between the two roads and is connected to the two existing units. The form of the buildings is modern, simple, with emphasis on the roof slopes that reproduce the topography of the terrain and define the dynamics of the volumes. The planted roof of the intermediate building strengthens the planting of the densely structured plot and reinforces its energy efficiency.
